Pearl of Burgundy client dinner at restaurant Michel Rostang
One of our favorite sommeliers worldwide, Alain Ronzatti, challenged us which bottle will be a better choice: the 2002 or 2004 Coche Dury Corton Charlemange? Thank god we didn’t have to choose – we had both! And as expected, both were stunning wines.
The 2002 was mineral and complex; the 2004 broad and profound. Utterly amazing pair of one of the greatest white wines in the world!
This was followed by a perfect bottle from our own collection of the legendary 1962 la Tache. We feel the best way to describe this wine is by quoting Alain’s words: “this wine should be drank with hedonistic, even religious mind set”. In our opinion, along with the 1937 DRC Richebourg “VV francaise non reconstituee”, a magnum of 1978 Henry Jayer Cros Parantoux, the 1942 and 1971 Romanee Conti and the 1961 Jaboulet Hermitage la Chapelle this was definitely one of the greatest wines we ever had the pleasure to drink!
It was very difficult to believe that the following perfect bottle of 1982 la Mission Haut Brion would continue the trend, but surprisingly it did! This was another stunning bottle of Bordeaux at its best.
We finished with a rare bottle of 1948 Chartreuse, which was divine. This bottle was from the private collection of Mr. Michel Rostang and was generously served to us by Alain. Thank you!
