Champagne Pierre Peters

Champagne

The Pierre Péters estate, situated in the heart of the “Côte des Blancs” in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, has been a family-run house for six generations and has produced Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagnes since 1919. As a Champagne grower-producer, the wines come exclusively from their own vineyards.

The Peters family has developed, from generation to generation, its own selection of grapes (mass selection). They have been able to maintain and age vineyards that are now 30 years old on average. Each year, in respect of the environment, they adapt their cultivation methods to obtain healthy grapes so that their Champagne more precisely expresses the richness, subtlety, and elegance of the great terroirs of the Côte des Blancs.

The vineyards, just over 19 hectares, are located primarily in the Côte des Blancs, specifically in the villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, and Avize. These great terroirs, located just a few miles south of Épernay, lie on a chalky outcrop that acts as a natural water reservoir. The hillside vines are oriented to the east, which protects them from westerly winds. Aware of the value of their precious vineyards, they use sustainable farming methods to produce the finest grapes while respecting the land, the environment, and nature.

Les Chétillons
This is the name of Pierre Péters’ special vintage, which refers to a beautiful lieu-dit located in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. They own three plots of old vines (over 45 years old), acquired in 1930. Each parcel is vinified separately and blended to produce a single-vineyard vintage. All the power and minerality of Mesnil’s calcareous soil are expressed in this wine, which has been produced since 1971. Its reputation has surpassed French borders, and even Michael Edwards himself describes Les Chétillons as “one of the most beautiful pieces of land in Champagne.”
