Domaine Robert Chevillon
Burgundy
Côte de Nuits
Domaine Robert Chevillon, located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, traces its origins to the early 20th century when Symphorien Chevillon began cultivating approximately 30 acres of vines in his own name.
The estate has expanded over the generations, with each adding Premier Cru vineyards to its portfolio. Robert Chevillon, who joined his father Maurice in 1968, significantly increased the domaine’s holdings from 3 hectares to the current 13 hectares, focusing on Nuits-Saint-Georges’ finest terroirs.
In 1990, Robert’s sons, Denis and Bertrand, the fifth generation of the Chevillon family, joined the domaine. Following Robert’s retirement in 2003, they have managed the estate, continuing the family’s commitment to quality winemaking.
The domaine’s holdings include eight Premier Cru vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges, such as Les Cailles, Les Vaucrains, and Les Saint-Georges. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Pinot Noir, with a total area under vines of almost 13 hectares.
Winemaking at Domaine Robert Chevillon is traditional, with 100% destemming, cold maceration, and slow fermentation. The wines spend 18 months in oak barrels, with 25-30% new oak used for the Premier Crus. This approach results in structured, fruity, elegant, and complex wines that are made for long aging but also accessible relatively early.
The Chevillon brothers’ dedication to their craft has solidified Domaine Robert Chevillon’s reputation as a leading producer in Nuits-Saint-Georges, offering wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
