Domaine Tessier
Burgundy
Côte de Beaune
Arnaud Tessier took over the Meursault family domaine in 2006 at the age of 22, following his father’s sudden death.
Vineyard work was not new to him, as he had been working alongside his father since he was 14 years old. From the very beginning, Arnaud recognized the great potential of the 7.5 hectares of stunning vineyards he inherited, which are spread across some of Meursault’s finest appellations.
Like many young winemakers of his generation, his philosophy is that most of the winemaking process is done in the vineyards. The viticulture is organic, and yields are controlled by the removal of excess flower buds during the flowering season.
It’s hard to find Arnaud when visiting the domaine, as he spends most of his time working in the vineyards. Indeed, Tessier’s vineyards are famous for their quality, thanks to the tremendous amount of work invested in them.
To complement the Tessier team, he is assisted by his wife, Catherine, who brings her own experience and skills to the domaine, having worked for other important domaines both in Burgundy and abroad.
Arnaud has a clear vision for his wines, and the results are pure, exotic, and elegant. These wines are easily recognized as great examples of their respective terroirs. The quality of the wines improves year after year, and Tessier’s wines are already considered among the finest in the appellation.
As a small domaine, Arnaud invests in new equipment gradually. Over the last few years, a new press and fermenting tanks have been installed, and more modern equipment will be purchased in the coming years.
This is another great example of the generational shift that has taken place in many Burgundy domaines over the last decade.
