Philine Isabelle

Italy

Philine Isabelle Dienger is a German-born winemaker who has established herself in the heart of Italy’s prestigious Barolo region. Originally trained in political science, she later pursued her passion for viticulture, gaining hands-on experience at renowned biodynamic wineries such as Odinstal, Pranzegg, and Heinrich. In 2019, she settled in the Langhe region of Piedmont, where she cultivates approximately 1.5 hectares of vineyards, including select plots in the esteemed Preda vineyard in Barolo.

Her flagship wine, Barolo Preda, is crafted from Nebbiolo vines planted in 1984 on marl and sandy soils over limestone at an altitude of 340 meters. The winemaking process adheres to minimal intervention principles, featuring spontaneous fermentation, a three-week maceration, and aging for 18 months in 25 Hl barrels, followed by additional refinement in concrete tanks. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its purity and authenticity. Tasting notes highlight its elegance, refined red fruit character, floral aromatics, and balanced structure. Philine’s approach seamlessly integrates traditional Barolo techniques with forward-thinking biodynamic practices, showcasing her dedication to crafting wines that honor the region’s rich heritage while expressing her distinctive winemaking philosophy.
